A humanitarian aid flight carrying 17 workers of the Global Fund crashed while trying to land during a storm in remote eastern Congo earlier in September, killing all passengers. Those who perished were known personally by Bill Clemmer, American Baptist missionary serving in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Dr. Reid Trulson, Executive Director said, “I wish to extend sincere condolences to the families of those members of The Global Fund who lost their lives in the tragic plane crash in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and to all of the staff of The Global Fund on behalf of American Baptist International Ministries.
“Our personnel and partners in the Democratic Republic of the Congo join the U.S. staff of International Ministries in holding you up in prayer at this time. …We value the important ministry of The Global Fund and its personnel. Please know that you continue in our thoughts and prayers.”
