He has risen indeed !
This morning Pastor Walt Shepard led the International Protestant Church of Kinshasa in our annual Easter Sunrise Service. The service was held on the grounds of historic Simm's Chapel overlooking the Congo river and it was a great time of rejoicing. We had prayers, testimonies, special music and a great sermon! Afterwards we had a fellowship time with lots of home made goodies. It was really a great privilege to worship with believers from many nations who all share the love of Christ. The Easter Sunrise service reminded us of how great the work of Christ is and how we are united in Him in love and mission.
Pastor Walt's Bible text was one of my favorites, so I'm going to list it here.
If then you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.
(Colossians 3:1-4)The pastor emphasized that Jesus' resurrection should make all the difference in the world to us. Because He lives, we live as well. And because he will come again, we should live for that new kingdom.
It was a very inspiring sermon and a great church gathering.
