"May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine upon us, that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations." (Psalm 67:1-2)

We greet you from Judson College in Elgin, IL where we continue to serve as missionaries-in-residence for the college community.

Family matters

We are enjoying this period of U.S. Assignment. Our time in the States has been extended so that Francesca can complete her studies. All, but Steve, are in formal study programs. Francesca is nearing the completing of her Masters Degree at Wheaton College Graduate School. Bethany is a senior at Eastern College, Stephanie a sophomore at Trinity International University. David is in a special class at Creekside Elementary.

It's hard to believe that on October 16 we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary!

Steve made a trip back to the D.R. at the beginning of September. Mr. Jess Crookshank of the First Baptist Church of Alliance, Ohio, accompanied Steve. It was good to renew friendships, to see how the mission work is progressing, and make plans for our next term of service.

September 11

We are all saddened and horrified by the events of September 11. Our prayers go out to all who lost loved ones in the events of that day. Since that day Judson College has turned into a community of prayer. We are pleased to be able to help out here. People from all over the world were affected. There have been special memorial services in the D.R. for the 33 Dominicans listed among the missing. All 33 were working at a restaurant on the 106th floor of the WTC.

Tourism from the U.S. to the D.R. has suffered greatly. The usual 46 daily commercial flights from the U.S. to Santo Domingo have been reduced and only a fraction of the usual 5,000 daily passengers from the U.S. are arriving.

None of this changes our mandate to spread the Gospel of Jesus throughout the world. We want to challenge our churches and you to re-examine the mission principles and priorities put forth in the Go Global mission statement. The vision for mission expressed by American Baptist churches and global partners in this statement has the potential to reach millions of people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

In all things our desire is to give God the glory through our lives and work and we pray, using the words of the people of ancient Israel: "May God's glory fill the whole earth" (Psalm 72:19). Thank you for your prayers and support. We know that we could not serve our Lord Jesus in the way we do if it were not for you!
