Dear Brothers and Sisters:
Some of you have heard about the terrible floods that we have had in Sixaola, Costa Rica, where I am doing pastoral work in addition to my ministry in Changuinola, Panama. Sadly, the first floods occurred this past November and now again this week.
I ask for your prayers for this community that has been hit so hard.
I am sending you some pictures to give you an idea of what we have been going through. Some of the pictures are of the inside of the temple when the water had receded and we were working to clean it up. Others are of the surrounding areas. We used the church’s boat to make pastoral visits and to bring supplies to our brothers and sisters who were isolated by the floods. In some of the pictures from the boat, I was accompanied by Rubén Vigil, who was helping with the rowing. Rubén survived a terrible accident in January 2008 where his face was cut in half by a saw. He is the one wearing a striped shirt.
Please pray for us and for the work of cleaning and rebuilding. The classes in Sixaola were to have begun on February 9, but they will have to wait.
