Flower Girls (Annie)

FlowerTheir arms were full of flowers but it turns out these little girls were selling something else as well. I met 12-year-old Faa and her friends while on an outreach visit in the red light district. When I got to know Faa better I found out that she was an illegal Cambodian refugee. Her mother sent her out on the streets to sell roses but she had been discovered by a pedophile ring and was being used sexually. I turned the information that she gave me about the men over to my supervisor at Rahab. When I left for the U.S. these four little girls were still selling their flowers and their bodies to men in the red light district. It was painful to leave them behind not knowing what would happen to them or if I would ever see them again. I shared the story of these little girls while in the U.S. and I know many people prayed for them.

The prayers were answered. Shortly after my return to the U.S., my supervisor wrote to tell me that the pedophiles had been arrested and the little girls had been taken into custody into a safe shelter for rehabilitation. They were being treated for venereal diseases but were doing well. We returned to Bangkok in January and I have been anxious to see these little girls.

Yesterday, January 18th, I went by tuk-tuk, sky-train, taxi, motorcycle and boat to get onto the island where these little girls have been living for the past six months. We had a wonderful reunion. The girls were so happy to see me they hugged me and cuddled with me for an entire hour while I visited with them. Together we chatted, played dominoes and read books and I enjoyed watching them play out their childhood. I brought them angel necklaces from America and they looked at them over and over again delightfully. When I told them that people in America had been praying for them they hugged me again. Before we left, my co-worker Pu, and I prayed with the girls and asked God to bless their future. At the end of this month they will be repatriated back to Cambodia. I praise God for rescuing them and keeping them safe these past six months. I am concerned about their future and I am sad that I won't see them after they leave. Please pray for them that they will not return to Thailand to sell in the red light district but will go to school. God brought these little girls into my life for a purpose and I believe God will not lose sight of them but will direct their paths. God does have plans for their future and they are plans for good. Please pray that they will come to know the God that rescued them.
