March switches to Spring in the north and Fall in the south… We have sprung to the north from the southern hemisphere and are already in Puerto Rico for our US/PR assignment. Farewells are always painful when one has allowed space for intimacy and true love to be nurtured. Our last couple of weeks in Chile were filled with visits of those who wanted to share their final moments with us and us with them. That morning of Sunday, March 1st was not the easiest one, yet was one full of joy in the knowledge of being one with the other and anticipating staying in touch with modern day technology that allows for such closeness. Arrival to Puerto Rico was full of joy in the knowledge that we were arriving at the right time to be with our parents, especially Mayra’s dad who underwent open heart double bypass surgery the following week to our arrival. He is doing so well even the doctor is surprised! We were also blessed to participate in the Puerto Rico Baptist Churches annual meetings in Yauco to reconnect with many of our loved ones and meet new brothers and sisters who are already eager to accompany us in our journeys and adventures. We have been to the viewing of a friend’s mother, to our church service in Caguas, and to our choir rehearsal last night. All in less than two weeks in Puerto Rico…
We continue to expect dates for the ordination (already approved), and commissioning (pending achievement of 100% pledges of support) for Kim Kushner in Oregon and preparing to go to El Salvador. Find out more about her upcoming assignment and how you can partner with her at http://www.internationalministries.org/missionary/kim_kushner. Remember you can also contact her at kimkushner@gmail.com. The Lord brought us to this 2nd US/PR assignment year, with the opportunity to see God at work through each of you. In our February journal we shared with you the financial challenges our mission society faces and our Wed, Sep 30th, 2009 deadline; to have secured 100% of our US/PR assignment and securing resources for our next term of four years in Valencia, Spain that begins Mar 1st, 2010. We are serving a God who owns all the gold, silver, and bronze of the world, with more than enough for Kim and new missionaries, as well as for pre-2004 missionaries in the field, like us, who still need to achieve our 100%. We praise the Lord for the 14 colleagues and their MPTs who have already achieved their MPT goals. You already know how the MPT gift system works; you can always visit our website for reference and instructions on how to partner with our ministries. Our MPT is soon to reach out to you and we pray you will be sensitive to what they would like to say. YHWH Jireh!!!
Our brothers and sisters in Chile were blessed because you were faithful to keep us in their midst these two terms. Our brothers and sisters in Spain need you now to partner with us so we can get to them, serve them and fall in love with them because of Him. Immigrants, lay leaders, and Christian educators will be blessed with what the Lord will accomplish through you and us while in Spain. Many around the world will be blessed if you take God’s mission into your heart and find ways to partner with those around the globe that link one another and become bridges for many to come and minister together in His name and for His sake. If we are to walk in someone else’s shoes, and share with them His heart, we will need you to help us get to those places of service. We trust you will continue partnering with us in Spain as you did in Chile. Once we settle in Spain remember we will need you to partner with us in the projects the Lord will inspire!
Thanks for your love, your encouragement, and the financial support that enables us to continue in His service. Together we can do much more for Him… (Romans 15:22-33)
With love and gratitude, as we reached the lands of the north,
Mayra for the Bonilla-Giovanetti family
