Hong Kong Christian Council appointed new General Secretary
March 2, 2009
Rev. Kam-cheong Po was appointed the new General Secretary of Hong Kong Christian Council (HKCC), a partner of American Baptist International Ministries. Before Rev. Po took up the new responsibility, he had 20 years of ministry experience serving as the Executive Secretary of the Hong Kong Council of the Church of Christ in China (Hong Kong), and the pastor-in-charge of the Kei Wan Church and Chuen Yuen Church. Rev. Po graduated from the Divinity School of Chung Chi College of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
International Ministries and HKCC jointly support an Ecumenical Summer Institute. The goal is to involve young adult Christians in social concern and related theological reflection. The program puts special focus on the development of lay leadership, the promotion of social and gender justice, peace and human rights, as well as ecumenism.
HKCI is also a close partner of the Amity Foundation, with which International Ministries’ personnel Judy Sutterlin has served. Judy recently received an award from the Ningxia Government in recognition of the village clinics program that International Ministries has supported.
