Trials and triumphs at Nighlight
by Annie DieselbergDear Friends,
It's been a busy season and not an easy one. God is working in incredible ways and our days seem to be filled with the highest of joys and at the same time very difficult and discouraging challenges. "We have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is form God and not from us." 2 Cor. 4:7
Answers to Prayer
New Women
We have accepted four new women. Two are high school students on break. One had started in the bar when we met her and was so relieved to have an alternative.
New Believers
Two more women have accepted Christ. One had been in prostitution for a long time. When she heard that Jesus could forgive her sins she eagerly accepted Him. The other had been putting it off because of her family duty to the ancestors. She was being attacked by spirits of death in her sleep and wanted Jesus to help her. She finally realized that Jesus loved her more than these spirits and that Jesus' power is greater than that of the spirits she had feared. After she accepted Christ, she had a vision in which she was surrounded by death. She saw herself walking out of death into life.
Miracles at NightLight
Prayer ministry, healing, and deliverance have become regular happenings at NightLight. Some of the Christian women are beginning to see God use them as well in praying for others. One of the new believers came and asked prayer for a neighbor in critical condition. The mother was desperate and "T-k-a" told her we would pray. As we prayed we could feel the power of the Holy Spirit working. The faith of the women challenges us to even greater faith.
Children's Center
We have had a successful children's center during school break. The children visiting their mothers have been able to play safely and learn about Jesus. It has been fun having kids around every day as they gather to go to the center.
Assistance to Trafficked Woman
We have been assisting a victim of human trafficking to get back to her country. While waiting for documents, she stayed with people who speak her language. She said, "I feel human again. Not an animal." Thank you so much she has said over and over with tears. She has experienced the love of Jesus and wants to find a place to worship back home. We are so grateful to the individuals who have sent funds to enable her to get new documents, pay her fees, and get a ticket to return home.
Prayer Requests
Staff
Please remember to pray for the staff. It seems to be a difficult time for everyone and there is a lot of weariness. We lost one staff member last month unexpectedly. She asked for two days off and didn't return. We have had minimal contact with her but enough to know that she will not be able to return as staff. It has been very discouraging and painful for all of us.
The economy
Inflation is making it difficult for the women to make ends meet. We will probably need to provide some additional funds to compensate for the inflation. The price of rice has more than doubled as have many other necessities.
Landlady
We have an extremely challenging landlady. She avoids conversations, will not give us documents needed and is continuously demanding more money from us without notice. The tension is escalating and we probably need to find a new building very soon. The contract runs out July and the staff do not want to renew with her. Pray for either a new space or a change of heart.
Divine Strategy
Pray also for a divine strategy so we can accept more women. There are still women on the waiting list but we are at our limit under the present business registration. With the economic issues there will be many more women needing work.
Trafficked Woman
Pray for the trafficked woman as she goes home. She is very concerned about her safety on return. Pray also that she connects with some Christians (closed country) and is able to come to faith in Jesus.
We are very aware that there are problems and tragedies all over the world and even in your own sitatuations. I am often humbled to know how many of you pray for us regularly. We don't take this for granted but appreciate it more than you know. We are keenly aware that so much of what we see here firsthand happens because of your faithfulness in prayer. Thank you! May God bless each of you.
Sincerely,
Annie Dieselberg
