Karen is currently on an extended ministry assignment in the United States, co-leading Responding to the Call, International Ministries (IM) extraordinary future-planning process for its third century of mission. The process will result in a new vision, priorities and goals that will guide the work of IM through the next decade. Karen says, "Responding to the Call has been an amazing experience, and I wait with joyful anticipation to see the operational plan which will be finished in mid-2016!”
In addition to working on Responding to the Call, Karen is also continuing to provide administrative assistance to the New Life Center Foundation (NLCF) in northern Thailand. This ministry serves minority women who are survivors of human trafficking, forced labor and sexual abuse. NLCF residents receive education, vocational and life skills training and legal assistance. Special therapeutic activities for survivors include comprehensive art, dance and music therapy and individual counseling. NLCF also promotes education at every level and supports over 200 minority women and men in vocational and university degree programs throughout Thailand. As a program consultant, Karen’s assistance includes writing grants and reports, public relations and supporting the staff.
