The Hong Kong (HK) Government has provided adequate vaccine, Sinovac and BioNTech, to all HK residents. As of August 13, 53.90% of the residents received the first vaccination; and 41.90% received two doses. (https://www.covidvaccine.gov.hk/en/dashboard). The HK Government has also provided a consumption voucher of HK$5,000 (about US$650) to each adult resident to help their needs and as an effort to restore the HK economy. HK has a population of about 7.5 million, and 6.7 million are adults.

International Ministries (IM) has provided PPE and financial assistance to partner Swatow Baptist churches in Hong Kong to help their members and needed families. Jabbie Chia, Vice Chair of the HK Shantou Baptist Mission Outreach Association in Hong Kong, shared that “Churches find new ways to partner with restaurants and vendors, and this effort generates new energy and excitement for urban mission.” IM also provides support to two NGOs: the Moming Society ( https://www.facebook.com/momingsociety/ ), and the Metro World Child (MWC, https://www.facebook.com/missmatchYTM/) to provide PPE, daily necessities and food coupons to the homeless, refugees, ethnic minorities, and underserved grassroots families.

Stanley Chow, American Baptist Mission board member joyfully shared that “The Moming Society has expand their charity work to more districts. They also innovated a trial project “Farm for the Poor” through which their volunteers rent farmland to produce organic vegetables to provide to the needed people in surrounding areas free of charge.”

MWC coordinator Pastor Peggy Yeung thanks IM for our support saying, “the Lord is bringing amazing impact through our mercy and park ministry. Many are seeking to know our faith, and we have started fellowships, worship services and children Bible time to lead them to Jesus. I am excited to announce the Grant Opening Ceremony of the New Life Church in Hong Kong on August 13! I thank the support of our mother church, the Chinese Missionary Baptist Church New York (an American Baptist member church), and Pastor Kenny Auyeung and the church leaders.” “The mission of the New Life Church Hong Kong is to train ethnically diverse DiscipleMakers to love the poor, multiply DiscipleMakers and plant daughter churches around the world.” Pastor Kenny shared his passion. Praise God for this ministry development, and we are thankful for the opportunity to support Pastor Peggy’s ministry and her theological study.
