MIKE Lowery first served in the Democratic Republic of the Congo as a volunteer in 1983. In 1990, Mike returned to the Congo as a special service worker alongside his wife, Jill. Mike and Jill returned to the DRC as full-time missionaries in 1996. For the past 25 years, Mike has been a preacher, pastor and teacher of theology in both Kikongo (at the Baptist University of Kikongo, or UNIBAC) and Kinshasa. Since 2009, Mike served as the senior pastor of the International Protestant Church of Kinshasa. Under Mike’s leadership, the church was transformed from a small group of expatriate missionaries into a thriving and diverse English speaking congregation that includes Congolese and over 20 other nationalities. Mike will officially retire from International Ministries as of December 31st, 2021; his wife Jill will continue in ministry in her role as an IM donor advisor. We thank God for Mike and his faithful service alongside the Congolese for so many decades! Please join us in celebrating Mike, and praying for God’s continued blessing on his life in this new season.
