Dear Family, Friends, and Ministry Partners,

Just a brief update on my status.  I will now be departing on February 2, 2021. I had to change my ticket twice because of the South African visa process. I finally was granted a three-year Religious Worker Visitor visa.

My home was leased on January 15, 2021. The tenants and their dogs are enjoying their new home and the backyard.

Some household items and mementos are at the dock waiting to be shipped once I have obtained my visa. The suitcases and backpack are packed ready to get on the flight to South Africa.

“So where are you right now?”, you may ask. I am still waiting and staying with Grannie and my niece Shatoi Monique.  I am in God’s holding pattern for a few more weeks than I expected. Family, friends, and colleagues were all sending encouraging words and prayers. God’s timing is truly perfect. I know that God will continue to reveal more of God’s own reasons for what I considered as delays.

Tears filled my eyes as I saw some of the reasons. Some very deep and personal reasons just caused me to praise and thank the Lord for the Lord’s perfect timing.

If you read the news about South Africa, you see stories of travel bans, Coronavirus mutation, and the country having the most Coronavirus cases in all of Africa. What you don’t hear about is the families being impacted, the at-risk women and children, the teachers still trying to help their students, and churches still trying to help their community. You don’t hear about Teleios Christian School students and teachers. You don’t hear about Bethany Emmanuel Baptist Church, the Women’s Entrepreneurial Program, called Project Dorcas.  I plan on giving you more firsthand views, while exercising proper Coivd-19 protocols, of course. I will also be learning the language of the Xhosa people to better know and interact with families living in the Eastern Cape of South Africa.

We have work to do all over the world where Christ is calling us to let Him live a life of purpose through us, in His name. Jesus states His purpose in Luke 4:18-19 (NLT), “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for He has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that the captives will be released, the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come.” I ask the Lord to live out His purpose in me and through me and around me, in Jesus Name. Amen.
