BWA Covid-19 working group

Listen to a conversation we had with a friend the other day. Friend: So, will you be traveling soon? Us: Nope – not until restrictions are lifted and a vaccine is readily available. Friend: That makes it hard to continue your global ministry, doesn’t it? Us: It’s a bit more challenging, yes, but we are deeply encouraged by how God’s people are finding creative ways to share the good news of Jesus in word and deed. God’s mission hasn’t changed, it has just taken on a new form!

Here are highlights (in alphabet soup form) of how God has used us in the last couple of months:

BWA – Ann serves on a team created by the Baptist World Alliance to produce a resource library of stories and insights on how to be the church in this “new normal.” It will be called Church and Crisis Response: A Holistic Mission Guide.

GGBI – we facilitated two Zoom meetings with Indonesian Baptist leaders to discuss the creation of a denominational cross-cultural ministry agency.

MTS – Ann is mentoring distance education students enrolled in Masters of Theological Studies courses through the Latino/a Ministries program of Palmer Seminary.

WFTO – Bruce facilitated two sessions of the World Fair Trade Organization’s on-line Asia Fair Trade Summit 2020 that attracted 200+ participants from across the Asia-Pacific region.

TEE Aotearoa: Te Hapori Akonga (Learning in Community) – Ann led a group facilitators’ training for 17 church leaders from 8 ethnic communities in Aotearoa New Zealand.

WCBC – Ann continues to serve as interim pastor at Wellington Central Baptist Church. New pastors will arrive in February: praise God for this answer to prayer!

Amid all the changes, one thing remains the same: our partnership with you in God’s mission.
