Matthew 7.19-20 NKJV

19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruit you will know them.

The Conflict Transformation Training that we led in Bujumbura this February 2020 is bearing good fruit. Felicien Bernard Homba, the Co-Founder and President of “Together for Orphans Foundation” was one of the most attentive participants. He was an avid listener, always smartly dressed and had a gifted mental ability to process things quickly.

Even though Together with Orphans is a small organization, they have been supporting and helping vulnerable children, orphans and widows in a huge way. They help communities in emergency situations such as Covid19, floods and other disasters.  Burundi was affected by heavy rain and floods this year. Together with Orphans Foundation distributed donations in the Gatumba area.

Felicien expressed gratitude for everything he learned in the Conflict Transformation training, especially the experiential educational methods which he now uses in the Together for Orphans children’s camps. Every school holiday they hold a camp for children between 5-12 years old. Felicien said that he “…discovered a lot of adventure-based games which became a huge resource…The kids really loved the participatory approach of stating hard and difficult topics in fun filled ways.”

Felicien hopes to continue to integrate these methods into on-going peace training with children.

Thank you for supporting this training which has produced such results. Please continue praying for God’s provision for this foundation and for all the orphaned and vulnerable children and widows in Burundi.

With your support and prayers, we hope to continue to train Felicien and other leaders from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Burundi and Rwanda in a (post-Covid19) Training of Conflict Transformation Trainers (TCTT) that will be based in Goma, DR Congo

Peace,

Lance and Christina
