Haiti – Eye Clinic Vehicle
Health and Wellness
GoalThe goal of this project is to provide a mobile eye clinic to serve remote areas of Haiti.
SummaryThis project seeks to raise $41,176 to purchase a new vehicle for the eye clinic in Cap-Haitien.
DescriptionBefore COVID-19, the eye clinic in Cap-Haitien saw 500 – 800 patients a month and provided them with quality eye care at low or no cost. The clinic has been operating for many years reducing preventable eyesight problems enabling patients to remain employed and enjoy their lives. The clinic does eye examinations, provides eye-glasses and recommendations for cataract removal and diagnosing other eye diseases.
Many people have no means of getting to Cap-Haitien. A vehicle made it possible to provide a mobile eye clinic that drew large crowds throughout Haiti wherever it went. Unfortunately the vehicle was totaled in an accident.
Without this vehicle the ability to help persons in remote locations is very limited. The staff have attempted to do some mobile clinics with public transportation, but it is very difficult.
Purchasing a new vehicle is the best option to provide quality eye care to people who live far from the main clinic. A vehicle will make it possible to get supplies for the clinic. Shipping a vehicle to Haiti adds to the expense, plus the import duty fee. The project total cost is $ 41,176.
Suggested GiftsA gift of any amount will be gratefully received toward the cost of a new vehicle.
Prayer RequestsPray that the ministry of the eye clinic will give each child, youth, and adult a second chance in life.
Pray for the staff as they share the Gospel of Christ with their patients.
