February: In this month of love and friendship, what better way to share it than by sharing the love and friendship that our God offers us with those around us? That is what we have decided to do…

The Men’s Choir at FBC of Caguas, Puerto Rico, sing a hymn entitled “I have decided”. These are the translated lyrics:

• Beseeched by shadows, sorrows surround me. And through my trials I’m able to sing. For I have a treasure, my God reigns in me, and I have decided to live for the King.
Chorus: I have decided not to be defeated and that He completes His work in me. And nothing moves me for He sustains me. I have decided to live for the King.
• The hell trembles, while all saints are praying. Shadows are shattered with our song. The victorious King guides us as we march and I have decided to live for the King. (Coro)
Bridge: If I feel weak His face I will seek. If I feel tempted His grace is my faith. His grace is my faith. (Chorus)

As we look around us, we can see that the needs are beyond our strength or abilities. Yet, the Lord calls us to be His agents of reconciliation and siblinghood, as 2 Corinthians 5.18-20 tells us (ESV): “All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.” We have decided to continue being such ambassadors for Christ…

While in Chile, Spain, and Nicaragua, the Lord allowed us to be His ambassadors, sharing the message of reconciliation with God and our neighbors. As part of our redirection of service to Colombia, we will provide support to UNIBAUTISTA in the coordination of two main historical and very important events to be held in July 2019 in Colombia: the Continental Christian Network for Peace Conference, as well as the Global Baptist Peace Conference in Latin America in the midst of the peace process that the country is experiencing. We have decided to tackle this challenge in the midst of the current financial circumstances within our support network in the USA and Puerto Rico.

It saddens us deeply to read daily news and witness the dramatic increase of violence, intolerance, abuse, corruption, and discrimination that multiplies at lightspeed. Perhaps we think we cannot change anything, but we can be the reconciling balm, the voice of hope, and the link to reconstruction for someone in our Jerusalem, or perhaps we can join those working in the Judeas and the Samarias, and most certainly, the Lord continues to call us all to be His ambassadors to the ends of the earth or accompany someone who is.

This month, we are working the logistics to support those in Puerto Rico with ABHMS/OGHS and the ABC Regions. Meanwhile, another “reverse mission” awaits with FBC Honolulu and their ministry to the community. As we pray to reach our recovery of 100% financial support, we keep on serving and loving.

Yes, we have decided to seek His face when we are weak, to have faith in the midst of the temptation to be discouraged, and to live for the King who called us, sustains us and will continue to provide for us while He continues to complete His work in us, in those around us, and those He allows us to meet. Would you pray for us and allow us to pray for you? Would you care to join us? Can we continue to count on your support for this task toward the 100% fulfilment of the mission?

* Sombras me asechan, penas me cercan. Y aunque haya pruebas puedo cantar.
Y nada me mueve pues Él me sostiene.
(Coro)

¿Te animas a acompañarnos?
