GoalThe goal of this project is to support a feeding and tutoring ministry for children in Panama.
SummaryThis White Cross project seeks to raise $5,882 annually.
DescriptionBanana plantations are common in Changuinola, Panama and the indigenous people are the primary workers. They suffer from extreme poverty, malnutrition, disease and illiteracy. Education is the key to breaking the cycle, but many children are falling behind in school. Missionary Ingrid Roldán-Román provides educational classes and tutors the children. Ingrid works with the Panamanian Theological Center of the Caribbean (Centro Teológico Bautista de Caribe Panameño) in a ministry that gives the children of Changuinola the study skills and encouragement they need to keep up with their peers. Ingrid also has a heart for the new mothers. Thanks to White Cross, baby layettes provide a daily witness of God’s love and care when they receive some necessities for their infant children. Layettes give the new mothers pajamas, undershirts and sweaters, wool coats, soaps, cloth diapers and pins, baby stockings, yards of material to make baby clothes, oil, body cream, a bathtub and blankets.
Suggested GiftsExample of what your gift could provide. $100 provides 80 students in Changuinola with pencils and pens their families can’t afford. $250 gives 80 students backpacks filled with school supplies, plus uniforms, shoes and stockings. $500 gives dozens of new mothers baby layettes that have a bathtub, cloth diapers, undershirts and sweaters, wool coats, soaps, yards of material to make baby clothes, baby stockings, oil, body cream, pins, wool blankets, and pajamas.
Prayer RequestsPlease pray for the students that come to the tutoring program and the continuing help they receive Please pray for the children’s health and their spiritual lives that they will come to know that God loves them and has a future for them
