Aleph Tav – Alpha Omega

(Para castellano, lee más abajo…)

Last month something happened on Sunday, December 18th that stopped many in their tracks. It was the final for the World Cup in Qatar and it was happening at 10:00 a.m. ET. Choices were made. As for us, we decided to watch it after the service. Did you wait or did you watch it live? Here’s what happened to us…

We chose to watch it after the service. But, when we arrived home, we couldn’t resist the temptation to find out who had won. Has it happened to you that even when you know the end of a game or a story, you still suffer as you watch it unfold? That’s exactly what happened to us. The same thing can happen as we go through life. As we are living out the challenges we face day by day, we often forget that He has already won the match of a lifetime and of eternity on our behalf, even though we know the end of His story as shared with us in His Word! We ought to be more mindful of the truth of His endgame rather than focus on the difficulties throughout the journey!

So, as we begin a new year, this 2023, which is merely a chapter within the aleph-tav, alpha-omega, A-Z, beginning-end of His whole story, we invite you to learn what He left for us in His Word, to live out your life this year as a true follower of Jesus Christ, and to teach others around you what you learn each day. After all, that is how discipleship works the best, when you learn, live, and teach His Word out of a personal relationship with the Author.

Going a bit further, aleph represents Abba (Daddy) while tav represents talmid {student (m.) talmida (f.)}. Throughout this year we will use the Hebrew alphabet to learn some key words that are also related to discipleship. For surely, our Daddy wants us to be discipled students of His Son.

Next to Argentina, 2022’s World Cup Champions, is our beloved Chile; where we began our ministry in 2000. Those of you who have journeyed with us since, know of or at least have heard about our dear Pastor Margarita. She’s the one who has survived cancer, back surgery, cerebral meningitis, and many other challenges. She was our student at the Institute and became the first ordained female pastor in Chile. Margarita perseveres in her faith, serves the congregation she’s been entrusted with, and continues to learn, live out, and teach His Word. What a blessing to see Margarita at our online discipleship encounters. Her curious mind and teachable spirit is an encouragement to us, for seeds that were planted and watered, continue to bear much fruit as ABBA provides growth to His TALMIDA. Margarita teaches us what it is to sit at the feet of her Rabbi Jesus.

As we meditate on the importance of being students of the Word, we invite you to pray for several important events happening this month of January: Convención Bautista Nacional-Nicaragua (5-6), Denominación Bautista Colombiana (5-12), and Convención Bautista Nacional-Chile (19-21) are all having their annual meetings this month. Our mission society sponsors the 5th prayer vigil (23-24) as planned by the Racial Justice Committee in response to the resolution from our board of directors in November 2020. Each vigil consists of 24-hours of intentional prayer that have blessed all who attend and participate.

And last, but not least, the second half of this US/PR assignment is in full gear starting at the end of January with 10 days in California. Remember to stay tuned to our FB/Instagram pages and FB group and accompany us as we travel and reach our goals. As you continue your daily reading of the Word and deepen your personal relationship with ABBA, remember to be the inquisitive talmid or talmida He wants us to be, sitting at His feet. The closer we are to Him, and the more we learn of His story, the less confused, anxious, and defeated we will be while facing our day to day challenges. We know how the Book ends. Let’s learn it well, live it out, and teach it to others…

Hechos y Amor en Acción: BGsEtAl 2023Ene; Vol. XXIII Núm. 7;
Alef Tav – Alfa Omega
