Mr. Zhonghui Qiu, General Secretary of the Amity Foundation, is among the most outstanding persons of philanthropy in China in 2014. “’They have not only affected the Chinese society, but also the whole of China,’” stated the Philanthropic Times on February 4, 2014. The China Philanthropy Times released a list of the top 100 public welfare sector figures that includes persons from all walks of life. Focusing on rural community-related projects and on urban communities, Amity is following a two-pronged approach. International Ministries (IM) has been a close partner of the Amity Foundation since its establishment in 1985. Since 2006, IM has supported Amity’s capacity building – staff development project, providing scholarships to Amity’s executive staff to pursue professional and graduate study in China, and in a three-month intensive English and NGO training in Philadelphia in partnership with BuildaBridge (http://buildabridge.org/) and Eastern University (http://www.eastern.edu/). Amity Foundation will celebrate its 30th Anniversary on November 2-8. Celebration activities include projects visit, NGO seminars and visit of the Amity Printing Company which has printed more than 10 million Bibles for the Church in China and Christian organizations of other countries.
