The Fall day of bike riding with friends was wonderful. The air was brisk and I did not feel cold until the end of the ride. The bike ride took place on the Saturday before the end of classes. From October 6 to November 15, 2019, I spent my time in Union Mills, North Carolina at the Center of Intercultural Training (CIT) for Cross–Cultural Training and Second Language Acquisition Training. The classes are part of the preparation for living and working in South Africa. Just like the bike path which had hills, stops and smooth roads along the way, so has been this journey to leave and start working at the ministry at Teleios Christion School in King William’s Town, South Africa.
The school year for Teleios Christian School is January to November. So the students have completed the 2019 school year, promoted to the next grade and now are on holiday. Top Honors were awarded to four outstanding students and there also was a demonstration of the arts through music and dance. My hope and prayer is to be with the students at Teleios Christian School for the 2020 school year. God’s timing is always perfect and good, so I rest in Him. Just as the picture below shows how far I rode the bike, what you don’t see is the bike path still under construction in front of me. The picture below is a glance back at my journey to get to this place. God has already constructed the future and I must GO.
The new journey ahead is with special needs children, the teachers and the administrative staff, who will not let the labels of society define the future of each individual child. The School’s scripture verse is Philippians 4:13(NLT), “For I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength.” We are all learning through this scripture, that the secret of living in every situation is a Thankful Heart for what the Creator of the universe gives to us each new day. I was also reminded today also of Philippians 4:6-7(NLT), “Don’t worry about anything. Tell God what you need and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”
Please enjoy this Thanksgiving time with your family and friends. I thank you for your prayers and partnership on this journey. I will be praying for you as you are praying for me.
