Our hearts break for our dear brothers and sisters in Puerto Rico as they are surrounded by the devastation wrought by Hurricane Irma and then Hurricane Maria.

International Ministries is grateful for the way American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS) is leading all American Baptists to respond, through its multi-year initiative, “Rebuilding, Restoring, Renewing Puerto Rico.” The initiative, launched last weekend, seeks to raise $1 million through One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) to support rebuilding the homes, churches and lives of our brothers and sisters in Christ.  International Ministries wholly supports this effort.

International Ministries has also been touched deeply and personally by the crisis, as several IM global servants and a member of IM’s Board of Directors are from Puerto Rico.  So, while IM is supporting the macro-level “Rebuilding, Restoring, Renewing Puerto Rico” initiative, we will also be assessing needs and developing micro-level responses to come to their aid.
