International Ministries (IM) continues to partner with the New York based Vellore Foundation to provide support to the Christian Medical College and Hospital in Vellore (CMC Vellore), South India to respond to the urgent needs in the second wave COVID crisis in India. IM committed $10,000 to the Vellore Foundation when the Foundation kicked off the COVID crisis fund-raising campaign last month.

CMC Vellore shared the following update: “As of May 14th, CMC’s total COVID19 bed strength is now at 1,051, including 100 ICU beds. However, as their in-patient load exceeds 1,200, they are now taking on the challenge of creating a 200-bed COVID ward on the Kannigapuram campus, including an additional 12-bed ICU. Originally built to serve as a Level I Trauma Care Center and Higher Specialty Hospital, the new Kannigapuram campus has enabled CMC to efficiently manage COVID cases throughout the first and second wave of the pandemic…” Click to read more: https://vellorecmc.org/newsroom/featured-stories/as-covid-cases-surpass-1500-cmc-opens-additional-12-bed-icu-at-kannigapuram-campus/

CMC Vellore implements 5-point strategy to best support COVID-19 patients’ oxygen needs, and “began shifting ICU and Level 2 patients from the main hospital to the Kannigapuram campus, which has a large oxygen generator plant to deliver oxygen more efficiently to patients. The Kannigapuram oxygen generator plant, installed in 2020 through the generosity of the Azim Premji Foundation, has a capacity to generate 1,000 to 1,200 cubic meters of oxygen per day, which would benefit 100 to 120 patients in Level 2 wards…” Click to read more: https://vellorecmc.org/newsroom/featured-stories/cmc-implements-5-point-strategy-to-best-support-covid-19-patients-oxygen-needs/
